Stones is a busy bakery and café in Falmouth where we produce all of our own breads, pastries and cakes. We are opening a new bakery in Penryn later this year. Good food is at the heart of what we do; making excellent baked goods that delight our customers is what drives us and we are looking for someone who cares as much as we do. About the Role
We are looking for a baker who will initially be based at the Falmouth site moving to our Penryn site as we expand. This position covers a number of different roles in the bakery. Following an initial familiarisation/training period you would be responsible for our full bread output on some days, making pastries, savoury items and biscuits on others.
This is a permanent role on a rotating shift pattern. The position involves somes early starts (4.30am), usually two days a week. The role is 36 hours per week over 4 days. The position includes working some, but not all, Saturdays.
- Prepare and bake a variety of bakery products, including bread, pastries, cakes, and biscuits
- Follow recipes and ensure that all products meet quality and presentation standards
- Operate baking equipment such as ovens and mixers
- Monitor baking process to ensure proper temperature and cooking times
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of ingredients and cleaning of equipment
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate baking schedules and production needs
Interested in baking and food in general
Previous experience working in a professional bakery environment is preferred but we will consider applications for a trainee position from those without formal experience
Experience of working with long fermentation doughs is desirable
Able to cope with the demands of being on your feet all day in a physically demanding job
Hard working with the ability to work quickly and efficiently
Able to work under own initiative taking responsibility for the quality of your output.
